Call out for 30th Anniversary Alumni Choir of the Green Bay Boy Choir
Saturday, March 20th, 201030 years ago, Audrey Olson dreamed of a choir where the boys of the greater Green Bay community could come together and share their talents and love of choral singing. The first concert took place on June 6, 1980 with 41 boys singing to an audience of 275, just 11 days after their first rehearsal! For the past 30 years, close to 1,000 boys have exprienced what it means to be a part of the Green Bay Boy Choir. Because of members like you, the Choir continues to grow musically and to touch the hearts of new generations of singers and those who come to see and hear them.
In celebration of all the wonderful young men who have made the Choir what it is today, we are inviting you to come back to once again share your talent and voice in our 30th Anniversary Alumni Choir under the direction of our artistic director, Dr. Randall Meder!
Our celebration will take place on Sunday, May 23 at 4:00pm at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. On Saturday, May 22, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm there will be a brief rehearsal for the concert in the Choir Room in the Studio Arts Building on the UWGB Campus. Reserved seating tickets for friends and family will be available in April through the Weidner Center box office at 920-465-2217, or on-line at www.uwgb.edu/tickets.
In addition, we would like to offer our alumni, their families, and supporters the opportunity to informally gather and share experiences and memories. On Saturday, May 22, from 7:00pm - 9:00pm (you may stay later if you want!), we have reserved the Founder's Room at Legends Restaurant in Howard - 2840 Shawano Avenue (just north of the Village Green Golf Course off Hwy 29 and east of the AMS/United Healthcare office park). There will be a cash bar and light snacks available.
Let us know if you will be able to join us for all or part of this wonderful celebration. Together, we can continue the honored tradition of "Far more than training voices … we are training hearts!" E-mail to gbbcgc@tds.net or call 920-321-0541.
